Liya Kebede (ሊያ ከበደ; born January 3, 1978) is a Ethiopian model.
Biography[]
She was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Career beginnings[]
A film director spotted her while she was attending Lycée Guebre-Mariam and introduced her to a French modeling agent. After completing her studies, she moved to France to pursue work through a Parisian agency. She later relocated to New York City.
Personal life[]
In 2000, she married Ethiopian hedge fund manager Kassy Kebede. They separated in 2013 and publicly split in 2015. They have two children together, Suhul (b. 2000) and Raee (b. 2005).
